Bedlam Furnace smoke, 1810 – a watercolour sketch by Arthur Howe Holdsworth (1780-1860)
Looking downstream on the River Severn from the vantage point of the Iron Bridge (built 1779). The sky is filled with the smoke from Bedlam Furnaces on the left side and Barnetts Leasow and Calcutts Furnaces on the right - all coke fired.

Blists Hill Furnaces, 1847 – a watercolour sketch of the 3 coke furnaces built 1832-44, with a blowing engine house at each end and casting halls in front. Today the site is a Scheduled Ancient Monument within the Blists Hill open air museum, Ironbridge.

Heslop engine, Madeley Wood, 1847 – coal and iron ore mines by Bedlam Furnaces, Coalbrookdale. Pit girls can be seen on the hill on the right picking iron nodules from the material brought out of the mines. The steam winding engine is a type invented by Adam Heslop.
